To restore the default color scheme
1. Right click an empty space on the desktop and select Personalize

2. In the Personalization window, click Window Color and Appearance.
2.1 If you have Aero turned on, click "Open classic appearance properties for more color options" at the bottom of the page.
3. Now in the Appearance dialog box, you can select one of the standard color schemes (Aero, Vista Basic, etc.), then click OK.

4. You can further customize the scheme by clicking the Advanced button.
5. In the Advanced Appearance dialog box, you can select individual items, such as the active window border, and set a color or colors for it, then click OK twice.

Note:
These colors will apply only when Aero is disabled.

Note:
It may be that the colors changed because you ran a program that caused Aero to be disabled. Some programs are incompatible with Aero and it will turn off when you run them.
